Douglas C - 47 Skytrain or Douglas Dakota, as it was called by the RAF, was an American built military transport aircraft which saw widespread use by the Allies during WWII. This particular aircraft was built in 1944 and is one of the few surviving ones which had been never changed technically (except for the nowadays mandatory GPS system) |
Some pressing business distracted me in the recent months. Thus I wasn't able to post some more photographs of our spring journey to Channel Island of Guernsey. Very interesting - at least for a WWII airplane enthusiast - was the possibility to 'tour' this C-47 on Liberation Day. It was 'starring' recently in the movie THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY |
